Border Effect
A bit ago I saw an example of a border effect that "painted" a white border around a picture.
Can someone point me to the thread where this is described....
Thanks....

Re: Border Effect
Great tip and it works with both Gold and PSP.

How do you get this to work with Gold. I would appreciate a step-by-step. Thanks.
Re: Border Effect
Nantory,
To get this effect in Gold follow these steps:
1. Drag your selected photo into slide list, double click on the slide and under the motions tab set the zoom at 50% and click on copy all to next. This will copy what you did into the next slide. Then click done.
2. Next you need to drag this same photo to the second slide in the slide list by holding the control key as you drag to the slide list. Double click on the slide and click on the layers tab. Highlight layer one and click on the down arrow so layer one becomes layer 2.
3. Go to the motions tab making sure layer 2 is still selected and set the zoom at 51% and click on copy to end.
4. Now click on the edit tab and check the outline box and click on select color. To get a white outline type in 255, 255, and 255 for the RGB number and click set color. Click on done.
5. For your transition you need to select the radar - clockwise transition and set the timing for whatever speed you like and that should do it.
There may be a quicker way to do this but this should do the trick.

Re: Border Effect
Nantory,
Since this effect must be done with multiple slides rather than keyframes as in Producer it is not necessary to use multiple layers on a slide. Quickest, easiest way is:
1. Slide one - put in the chosen image and adjust zoom to whatever you want as long as its small enough to show the border on the next slide.
2. Slide two - same image as slide one with same zoom and position. Add a border.
Use the radar-clockwise transition or whichever you prefer. I usually set the slide time to 0 secs. and the transition time to about 6 secs.
Since the width of the border is not adjustable in Gold I usually use Photoshop to add a border to a copy of the photo that I want to use this effect with. If you use a third party application to add a border make sure you put the border inside the original photo or else the images will not match in PSG without adjusting zoom.

Re: Border Effect
As usual, there's more than one way to get there and that's good. I did it more-or-less like Brian. Used a second image that was a simple solid color (intended for a background) as the underneath layer and adjusted the zoom factor on both layers to get the image size and border size I wanted. Apply one of the radar transitions and that's it. Never thought of it, but it's a cool, easy effect to keep in the 'bag of tricks'.

Re: Border Effect
A very neat effect, indeed. I've already tried it out and was thrilled when it worked just like the tut!
I wish I could "think up" these cool things on my own. I'm humbled by the wealth of creativity.
Thank you, Dilyla!

Re: Border Effect
Barbara,
I tried the border effect using all the methods outlined above, but found your suggestions the absolute easiest. Taking care of the border ( inside stroke ) in Photoshop was simple, and using only 2 slides ( no layers ) makes it less complicated.
Thank you for your suggestion.
