That's my choice, too. As a matter of fact, I've owned several Serif products, but amongst them, my absolute must-haves are PagePlus and WebPlus for The Frame Locker. WebPlus has built the entire site, and PagePlus has created a lot of the product instructions. When I was doing some digital scrapbooking, once again, it was Serif that I went to.

I certainly agree with everything that has been said here about using the appropriate tool for the job at hand. There really is no "one size fits all" program. The examples I showed earlier in this thread of what my upcoming program can do only showed part of the picture, so I made another video that summarizes all the dynamic content that the program can build into it's pages. Aside from its standalone qualities, I think the program will extend to ProShow users an additional way of showcasing their work. So, I'm attaching this YouTube link to show you the full scope of the variety of content the program can produce.

Another direction is that Adobe Indesign can do something like that, too. If you have the CC suite, you're already paid for it and might as well use it.

Thanks for your suggestion moehler, but I'm in Australia, remember. The "Australia Tax" applies. Adobe is one of the worst offenders in jacking up their prices to what they think they can get away with, i.e. nearly double US prices. Their buddies are Apple and Microsoft. Their attitude is take it or leave it. It's so bad that the Australian Senate held an enquiry last year and confirmed, yes, the prices are too high and the companies have no valid excuses, just corporate doublespeak waffle. They know they can get away with it, so they do. They were named and shamed, but it made no difference. Apple has also been shown as one US company avoiding almost all tax on their earnings in this country by shifting their profits around the world.

It shows when I try to download a copy at the US price from Adobe's website. As soon as they detect my Australian IP address, I'm either switched to the Australian site in A$ or refused. If I try to buy from a US retailer, they tell me they won't ship to my address.

Another example is Nuance Dragon Naturally Speaking. US price is $49. Australian price is $99, supposedly for "support" (there is a 10% GST in Australia). How come they can do US support in the $49 price? I complained to Nuance, but they just directed me to the Australian HQ, who never replied to my email.

So no, In Design, Photoshop and CS6 are out of the question for the ordinary user here. Photoshop costs $990, In Design is even higher.

After that rant, I'm very happy with my choice of Serif Page Plus X7. I'm making good, easy progress. Every time I think I want to do something, it seems to be built in. Import a list of names from Excel? Just copy and paste and there are the spreadsheet columns ready to be edited and formatted in Page Plus.

Also there are masses of preformatted pages to use, at least for ideas. Most of them are to much like newsletters or brochures for my purposes, but I can use elements from them. Very impressed. The PDF output is very comprehensive too.

Another avenue to take a peek at is "Desk Top Author" found at www.desktopauthor.com

I have never bought into the many facets of this company but have heard some great feedback from those who did. At one time, there was also a program called "FlipAlbum" which I did buy into however the company decided to seek greater glory than the rank and file users that put them where they are today. Check out www.ebooksystems.com if the company still exists.

Best of luck...

Both of those look very interesting, thanks Steve. Reasonable price for Desktop Author, but I'm not sure about requiring viewers to install this DNL DRM thing.
