I'm glad it all worked out for you

Other uses? I did a Lightning Halloween effect. I saw eyes in a picture going back & forth. There are many uses I just named a couple. With a little Creativity & Imagination its an open book.

I agree with the moderator, I didn't think the replies I received to my request were not out of line, but direct.
Thanks to Ron for his help. Ron I think you put my name on the reply instead of another person's name. I didn't create any video. (maybe I wish I had!)

Looks like I won't be able to produce a successful flicker anyway. I should have taken multiple images of the candle flickering at the time I took the photographs because it is just way too difficult to produce a believeable effect with just the star burst from the candle wick.

This doesn't help you create the effect with modifiers. But a video clip of a flame to use in your shows can be created with a point and shoot camera that captures video.

In March I did a show for a baby christening and I did a candle flame effect like this:

Candle Flame 1 835KB 7-8 seconds wmv
It looks sort of like a gas flame but it does flicker a little.

I can also do something like this:

Candle Flame 2 970KB 8 seconds wmv

The original photo was without the candle burning but it's not too hard to remove a flame. If either one can help you, let me know.

Flickering in candle flames seems to work better when at least one of the modifiers applied uses a random wave since that's how flames seem to move. I've created the effect, but don't ask me to remember precisely how I did it. I do know that I used modifiers on both the X and the Y zoom, and I'm pretty sure I used the random wave on one of them. Adding a little more stretch to the Y than to the X also seemed more realistic.

Full of ideas but no hard facts, aren't I? :D
