Question about Smartsound.

Postby jacktar » Wed Feb 23, 2011 8:49 am

Hi again out there.
I have heard about this "program" called Smart sound.
It looks like an interesting way of creating sound files for our shows,
If I understand it correctly , it says that we can use the music in a commercial way. ( That is: We can use their music in shows and videos that we want to sell.)

Anyway, I want to try the free download first.
Is there any of you who can give me a link to the free download?

And , do anyone out there know where to look for a "video" that explains the use of it?

And some of you said that there was five free songs with the free download. Are they "fixed", or can I choose the songs I want?

What would you say would be the advantages and disadvantages with Smartsound?

Best regards
jacktar

Check it our here: http://www.smartsound.com/sonicfire/

Advantages, huge assortment of librairies, the music track can be customized to the length of any show.

Disadvantage for PSP, you have to create the track in SF Pro and then import it to PSP. Other applications have plugins that let you work from within the app. Pinnacle Studio had it, then dropped it, and now has brought it back as a plugin for their Pinnacle Studio 15 and Avid Studio 1 products.

Check on youtube for tutorials as well as on their website.

I have a bunch of stuff from Smartsound and have been happy with their stuff. I expect to buy some more in the near future too. As far as their tutorials go, they have a bunch by Larry something that are pretty good (although his voice bugs me a bit :? ). Anyway, here is a link to their tutorials page - select the area you want to check out. You might want to edit your title on the original post to "Smartsound" instead of "Smartspund" so others can find it when they search the forums (or you want to go back and see what others answered to your post :D )

Thank you Joe :D
I want to look into this program, because I have the feeling that it gives more "freedom" ( It looks like we have some more possibilities in "manipulating" the lenght, mood and intensity to our "taste" and to fit the show.
And if I understand it corectly, tjese tracks are not loops or midi, but first clas recordings. If it is not possible to find something useful in this place, maybe we must look forever

to jacktar:

SmartSound company has 2 different software titles:

a. "Express Track" - which is free & you can downloaded it from their Website: http://www.smartsound.com/sonicfire/expresstrack.html

Link to different Tutorials about ExpressTrack:
http://www.smartsound.com/university/Express_Track.html

Tutorials are well done & will give you good overview about the software.

b. "Scoring Edition" - which does all Express can do - plus more - $99.00

c. and then hundreds of Albums of music - & they are adding new all the time.

I'm using (proccessed) result from SonicFire as "WAV" files, they are small and easy to easy to insert into Producer.

If you have more questions, let me know.

I bought Roxio Creator Pro 2010 and it came bundled with SonicFire Pro 5 plus some other goodies. It might be cheaper to get a copy of this from say Amazon.com (I think you live in the states) http://www.amazon.com/Roxio-Creator-2010-Pro-VERSION/dp/B002HH0WHK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1298793015&sr=8-1 and you get all the other Roxio packages free

I've even updated the bundled SonicFire Pro version to the latest one via the Smartsound web site.

I recently created a 20 minute slideshow in Photodex Producer and scattered newsreel soundbites on various slides. I then exported the movie to SonicFire Pro and added the musical soundtrack in between the soundbites. I then exported the whole soundtrack and re-imported it back into my slideshow in Producer.

I was concerned about the sync as some of the soundbites were cut to specific slides but it matched perfectly. All I needed to do then was to remove the original soundbites because the whole audio track contained music and soundbites and the duplication caused an slight echo.
