What do you guys think?
Hello everyone,
I am at it again...playing around with After Effects. I used a plugin called Zaxwerks 3D Flags and, via an included project file, rendered some red crushed velvet curtains opening to reveal an underlying image. The render can be seen here:
In After Effects, I rendered a file of just the alpha channel and another file of the curtains full color. Imported both into Proshow Producer and added the underlying image.
I am interested to hear feedback.
I am also considering making the alpha and full color files a free download.

I like it. The curtain opening effect is pretty popular on this forum and that one looks a lot more realistic than most of the ones I've seen. I bought a curtain effect on videohive.net but it's not anywhere near as realistic as yours.
I'm a big fan of After Effects, been so for too many years to count. So I'm a bit prejudice in your favor too

Thanks for the replies. I am going to upload the above curtain opening along with some others that will have different colors and fabrics.
Here's one of a curtain rising (I actually had to figure this one out):

Ok, I have finally gotten around to working on another curtain animation. I had to make sure the textures I used were ok to use, so the texture I ended up using is different.
Here is what the final projects look like:
and here are the download links:

http://www.mediafire.com/watch/qm1i1412 ... _Alpha.mov
http://www.mediafire.com/download/b0ff1 ... Velvet.mov
http://www.mediafire.com/download/qmn3k ... Velvet.mov
In order for the underlying image to show, you need to download the ALPHA renders and set ProShow to use as masking layer. The layers should be ordered from top to bottom (for example): Curtains_Rising_-_Red-Velvet_Alpha.mov (set as masking layer), Curtains_Rising_-_Red_Velvet.mov, your image.
Enjoy!

Hi folks,
I know it's been a good while since I created a curtain file, but you know how it is.
Here's another curtain file with lace trim:
