Create Photo Drawings in Proshow Producer
Barbara at Framelocker produced a number of useful freebie styles:
1. to create a drawing from a photograph
https://proshowthink.wordpress.com/2013 ... -producer/
2. to create a soft image background from a photograph
http://www.theframelocker.com/proshow-new.html
I have been trying to introduce a background layer, eg a parchment, into these without success. I can achieve this in Photoshop - with the help of Heckydog and this tutorial (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K43-_zhQZiM ) - but have failed dismally in my attempts in Producer. Is it possible? If so, suggestions appreciated.

Re: Create Photo Drawings in Proshow Producer
Without an actual image of parchment, you won't be able to do it in Producer since the software doesn't have all the tools necessary to realistically simulate it. Or are you asking how to add such a background layer to a slide style? If this is what you want to do, it's easy. Apply a style, add the parchment layer down at the bottom of the style, and it's a done deal. Certain styles such as those in which I've manipulated images with adjustment layers or perhaps inverted masks may present more of a problem.

Re: Create Photo Drawings in Proshow Producer
Barbara,
Thanks for responding.
Yes, your Photo Drawing style does use an Adjustment Layer and I expect my lack of knowledge/experience of working with these is the problem. The first thing I did was to drop a parchment image into the slide as you suggested. By removing the frame layer I was able to improve the effect very slightly but it doesn't show thro' the drawing as much as I'd like, ie as I was able to achieve in Photoshop. Perhaps I'm expecting too much; maybe there's another way of creating the effect I'm looking for in Producer; or maybe I'd be better off working thro' Photoshop. I'll email you samples of what I achieved with your style and the Photoshop version. As usual, any advice appreciated.

Got the email and am intrigued. See what you can do with the reply I gave you. Once things are worked out, one or the other of us can reveal "the secret" here in this thread.

I was so intrigued by this that, once I developed the desired background effect, I went on to create an entire set of slide styles. Here's a single style showing how it was done for anyone (besides Des) who'd like to see how it's done:
Ink on Parchment Bkgrd
Enjoy!

Betty, All the coolness was in Des' idea. It's funny how complicated the idea seemed and how simple it was to create, much simpler than might be imagined. Just turn the photo into an extreme black-and-white, and then turn it into an inverted grayscale mask that picks up only the black inside the mask. Add the parchment down at the bottom, and it's done. Simplicity is a wonderful thing.
Glad you like it!

Very Cool. Thank You.
Re: Create Photo Drawings in Proshow Producer
Barbara,
I downloaded your style, because this thread made me curious too.
I noticed that in the layer named INK, you write in the Layer Settings: "TO CHANGE INK COLOR, use Colorize in the Adjustments tab".
That's correct, of course, but since that layer has already an adjustment of the White Point = -100, the change of color won't be seen. It will remain black.
So, first, people should get rid of that White Point adjustment (set it to 0) and then apply the color change.
Anyway, you gave me an idea too !!
Something that's been on my mind for quite some time
Thank you !

Re: Create Photo Drawings in Proshow Producer
Mona, you're absolutely correct. The instructions were written for the first version where ink color could be changed, and then I altered the style, never going back to look at the layer note. I just brought it up and can see that INK was originally set with only Contrast changed, this being to -100, and then Colorize was set to black, which can be changed to any color desired.
I'll have to make the appropriate adjustments and upload the fixed version. Thanks for checking it because, free or not, it really ought to be correct.
Barbara
EDIT: The corrected version has been uploaded, and the original link leads to it.

Re: Create Photo Drawings in Proshow Producer
Many thanks for your Ink on Parchment freebie, Barbara. This, together with your two other freebies mentioned in my initial query and your latest offering, Etchings on Vellum (https://framelockernews.wordpress.com/), give an interesting collection of effects well beyond my expectations when I originally posted the query.
I look forward to seeing Mona's creations.
