Ok - I got to watch it!! How cool that you live on the land of your father. This was a little bit of country and a little bit rock and roll!
The shot of the Mississippi River from the air was amazing. I loved seeing all the people from Ole Miss...Miss Faith Hill is one of my favorites! the music was really perfect also.
Thanks HunnyB (hmmm the state insect???)

Works for me. Great look at Mississippi. Good show, perfect music. Only one tiny thing I noticed. You missed the n in magnolia! I sympathize. The D on my key board is sticky and half the time I look back and realized that the D's are missing!

Re: My Home State - 2010 Spring Challenge Show
Hunny,
There's something that California people and Mississippi people have in common. You can take them out of their state but they won't let you take their state out of them. As a Mississippi girl born and bred who left "to see the world" almost 50 years ago, my heart and my roots are still there. But no matter where I've lived over the years, from one coast to the other and places in between, I've happily re-educated a few people on what the state of Mississippi is really all about. And I've already bought my cemetery plot in my Mississippi hometown because I don't want any dirt but Mississippi dirt dumped on my coffin. The link below will give those unfamiliar with the state a good idea of what a super neat place it is!
http://mississippibelieveit.com/home/
Mississippi people love to get together to eat, laugh, and tell stories...even when they're far away from home. If you're in one of these places at Mississippi Picnic time, join them. You'll meet some great people and gain 20 pounds in one day!

Hunny,
I got so carried away yapping about Mississippi that I forgot to tell you how much I enjoyed your show! Good job! But you did forget to mention that some of the world's most famous Mississippians, Big Bird, Oscar the Grouch, Cookie Monster and of course that hell-raising party animal Bert of Bert & Ernie, are from Leland, Mississippi....sort of, since that is where Jim Henson was born.
And for Californians, if you're tired to eating healthy, take a day off from vegan and try this:

Hunny,
That was beautifully done. It made me want to come for a visit. Loved the photos used in the show and how you put this all together, song choice, video clips, captions, everything fit so nicely.
I don't think I've ever seen such huge sweet potatoes. But then I've not gotten around much lately.
Nice work.

Re: My Home State - 2010 Spring Challenge Show
Quetzal,
I'll bet Hunny has the recipe for Mississippi Mud Cake and while you're at it, get the one for garlic grits too...and sweet potato casserole...and Mississippi pimento cheese. Oh lord, I'm faint with hunger! And fresh green beans cooked with fatback and black eyed peas. And sweet, iced tea! Are there any 80 year old Mississippi mamas on this forum who still cook this way. If so, please invite me to Sunday dinner...and we all know what time that is served.

Hi Hunny
Brilliant show - absolutely loved it. A fascinating insight into your home state, so well put together too!
Now then... Manchester, UK? - I'm smiling in advance at the thought of the show I could put together about my home town - it would be a complete and utter opposite to yours! Sadly, I really don't have time right now
Thanks for sharing

Re: My Home State - 2010 Spring Challenge Show
Hi Hunny
Great Show ! I really liked it !
You definitely tell a good story. I visited Missippi about 20 years ago, my cousins moved to Grenada, it was culture shock for this city guy at the time.
Anyway I"m attempting a show myself and my ending was the same as yours with all the names scrolling....now I have to change it ... GRRRRRRRRR ... lol ...I only had a beginning and end so no biggie.
I do have one question though ... Hometown could be town, city, county, state? It could be whatever we want is that right? It doesn't have to be your specific hometown, like say Grenada?
Good Job Ron
