February Show Challenge

Postby rkligman » Thu Jan 31, 2008 6:31 pm

It's here, February! The month of love... Last month Deb got things kicked off with the Masking Challenge and this month it's my turn. I talked last year about Music or Pictures, what drives your shows. Well in February it's going to be music. I have crafted a very special song for us to use, and I use the term song very liberally. The purpose is to keep those creative juices flowing. To put you outside of your comfort zone so you can try new things. And from the opening beats, you'll be out of your comfort zone if I gauge the group right. :D The music is nice and short, just 1:25. I've thrown in enough twists that you can have a really good time if you desire.

Preview the music here: http://www.mycityphotoguide.com/downloads/techno1_96.mp3
Download it here: http://www.mycityphotoguide.com/downloads/techno1_96.zip

So here the deal. Your show is going to be a minute 25 seconds long because that's how long the music is. Use the music as your soundtrack. Put whatever visuals you want with it. Post your show in the Sample Show section and give it a subject of Feb08 Challenge.

Just an FYI, I created the music about 2 weeks ago, listened to it a few times back then but heard it again for the first time just before posting this message. I haven't personally done a show using it yet nor even thought about it yet so we're all on the same basic footing. I had nothing preconcieved about what kind of show would ultimately come out of the music, I just wanted to make sure there was enough variety in the music to allow people to be very creative.

Enjoy!

Hi Rick,
Great idea! And thank you for initiating this month's challenge. Interesting selection of music. Lots of room for creativity. Maybe too much :D

Great challenge. Maybe too much of a challenge.
Such music requires lots and lots of work!
Thanks for offering it.

Well I started my show last night. Spent two hours and haven't made it past the first 10 seconds yet. :D

Trying something different and I think I have some pictures that might carry the show. We'll see....

Are you joining in on this month's challenge, Ben? In spite of dial-up issues, I sure hope so. Your shows are always so unique and well put together. I would like to see some new work from you.

Stephanie, I would like to see some new work from me too  I would also like to get some work too, still no employment and the longer it takes the more stressed I get. I can't seem to get into making shows these days, knowing in the back of my mind that I may be living under a bridge soon. Severence is shrinking fast.

Hey Ben,
I am sorry to hear this but totally understand. I am between jobs myself so I know where you are coming from. Things will get better...it has to! Smiles.
