PSG hangs after 1 second of rendering to wmv file

I am trying to output my show to a wmv file.
My end goal is to put this video on my website (still creating it). I heard it should be in wmv format. I could do flv, but i dont want to force the page viewer to have flash player.
I choose create output in PSG and select video file. then from drop down i choose windows media and select a location to save.
it starts to render for a split second and then stops. I have tried the k-lite mega codec pack, reinstalling uninstalling every way i can think of and it still hangs. Please help with this, ideally i would liek to meet my end goal of getting it on my site, but i still need to have the wmv work. thanks everyone for the forum.
