Yowdie - A new way of displaying your work

Postby Dave Fitzpatrick » Fri Dec 09, 2011 10:45 am

I have written a new program that opens up a host of creative possibilities for displaying your images and shows. It's called Yowdie and stands for Your Own Words Digital Integrated-media Editor.

Yowdie lets you open a main image and add many different types of rich digital content to it. You can add unlimited text description, or you can add an audio narrative describing the image and any other information you want your audience to know.

But, where things get exciting is with the tags you can place on an image. These are areas of interest on the image, somewhat like the name tagging you can do in Facebook, but they can contain much more digital content. Each tag can have its own attached image, a text description, and an audio track. It can also have an embedded video from YouTube or Vimeo. In addition, you can add links in the tag to any webpage. So, the shows you have hosted on the Photodex sharing site or on personal webpages can be linked as well. All this content is then bundled into a single file called a Yowdi that can be emailed to friends and family or uploaded to the Yowdie sharing site from within the program.

To give an idea of how Yowdie enables you to tie your images and shows together into a coherent package, I have made a few videos that walk you through the "Making a Yowdie" process. If you watch them in sequence and let your imagination run free, I'm sure you will see all sorts of fresh creative potential for displaying your pictures and shows.

Yowdie can be found at http://www.yowdie.com

The program can be used as a Yowdi viewer for free and a commercial license can be purchased to enable you to create your own Yowdis and upload them to the Yowdie Sharing Site (free to registered users).

So download and install Yowdie and give it a try. It's free to use as a viewer and you can download some samples from the sharing site to view. The samples are found under the user name Demos

Thanks in advance for trying Yowdie and imagining what it can do for you.

The camera sees things the way they are. Photoshop makes them the way we'd like them to be.
