I have chosen 2 Charities to honor those who died in Newtown, CT and one that may help prevent such an attack in the future. To date, First Book has distributed more than 100 million books and educational resources to programs and schools serving children from low-income families throughout the United States and Canada.
2. Teach for America (http://www.teachforamerica.org). Teach For America develops teachers to work with kids growing up in poverty get an excellent education.
3. Brain and Behavior Research Foundation (http://www.bbrfoundation.org) This foundation provides Grants to scientists who work toward understanding causes and improving treatments of disorders in children and adults such as depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, autism, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder, and anxiety disorders like obsessive-compulsive and post-traumatic stress disorders.
