Help with Narration

Postby Bigg Matt on Mon Mar 08, 2010 12:44 pm

Hi all,

Looking to record a voice over for an entire show, with background music behind it. I read on here about using Audacity and other recording programs in lieu of using the voice over option in PSG. Would this be the best route for my application? Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Matt,

First let me say a word of welcome! Hope you'll enjoy this place.

I'm no audio expert by any means and I hope you'll get more/better comments than mine but if you want a continuous flow of voiceover then yes, I think I'd do that outside ProShow and bring it in. The tricky part will be the synchronization issues--there are folks here that have done voiceover work and hopefully they can share their tricks with both of us.

Great stuff, thank you both very much! I'm sure this won't be my last post as I work on my first show. Thanks again!

Anybody know of a way to add background music AND a voice over? In other words, can you add multiple audio tracks to your show?

Have your normal background music track and attach your voiceover to a slide. If your voiceover is 30 secs it will run for 30 secs of slides. You can always then attach another voiceover to a following slide.

In fact by attaching sounds to slides, and offsetting them, it is possible to have two, three, or more sounds at the same time. (Only one sound can be attached to one slide)

If you press the TAB key and go into 'timeline' view, you can even see these attached waveforms and drag them about so they overlap or to get voiceover timing correct.
