As soon as you start rendering to Mpeg2, especially if using a high quality
setting, you are talking serious number crunching. Over in the video editing
groups, a sort of "rule of thumb" was about a 1:3 ratio -- a 1 hour video
would take 3 hours to build. The standard sort of joke was - get everything
ready, then, just before you go to bed, start the render and check it in
the morning.
