W10 Edge and Presenter

Postby briancbb » Mon Jan 25, 2016 3:11 pm

Just a timely reminder with so many people updating to Win 10. Edge, the new Internet Explorer, although very good does not run Photodex Presenter. Guess who just had this problem, shouldn't be difficult.

Not a Presenter problem. Edge just does not support plug-ins.

When you try to open a show from the Photodex site, submitted by users, you will be prompted by Edge to download Presenter. This will download and run but Edge will still not run the show, it will prompt again for the Presenter download, ad infinitum.

Rosemary has also been there and had the sense to contact Photodex, note there is a way round it in the link to her post.

Hello

Chrome does not support plugin either and Firefox will probably follow soon...

We will have to use other format (html5 ?) and Photodex will have to llow those new formats on the site...

I've been running into plugin problems in other areas, and I thought it was just Firefox, but I guess not. I also ran into it on my own site where, finally and in one raging hissy fit, I removed every last bit of the free music download section.

Brian, Rosemary, Chris, & BarbaraC,

Thanks so much for your quick replies. Already tried the IE method previously and it did not work, tried Chrome-it did not work, etc. While it is not good news, I am glad that I am not the only one and that my puter is up to snuff and not lacking yet another add-on. Tried Firefox previously but had to delete because it started showing all kinds of porn. Tried it again this morning and stopped before completing installation because it wanted to disable a lot of the add-ons that I use. I will continue to check to see if a solution comes up. Until then I will watch only shows on Vimeo and YouTube. Thanks again.

Yvonne, Internet Explorer 11 still works. You can have both Edge and Internet Explorer installed at the same time.

Darlene,

Thanks for your response. I am using IE11 and it does not load shows submitted by users on ProShow Enthusiasts when it is loaded as Photodex--only works if they load it on Vimeo or YouTube.

I realized my proshow programs were not working on the latest version of Firefox the other day and did everythig I could to fix the problem. Finally I called Photodex and found out what you all know already. The Presenter plug-in no longer works with the newer web browsers.

I asked the customer service rep if Photodex was going to fix the problem and he said he didn't know. This tells me that it may be a very long time, if ever, before there is a fix to get the Presenter plug-in to work again. All my shows are no longer viewable.

Here's the information on Firefox from Engaget: https://www.engadget.com/2015/10/09/fir ... d-of-2016/

Very sad indeed :(

Same here concerning Firefox. But, I'm running W7 and Presenter still works in IE11. Some of my shows are only on Presenter so I think I will start copying them to my computer so I will at least have them for future reference.

Hi, for our concern, we use Vimeo. Same steps occur with the plug-in of Presenter. quetzal
