The Carvings
In Ayr, we have what we call the Carvings. A park with wooded areas that get cleared for public use now and then. When this is done the local artists create the most amazing wood statues with chain saws.
Then just along the road a ways we have the village of Alloway, who's claim to fame is Alloway Auld Kirk [ Old Church ] and the Brig o Doon, over which Tam o Shanter rode his old Grey Mare, Meg at full tilt to escape 3 pursuing witches, one of which caught Meg by the tail, but as we know a witch cannot cross the keystone of a bridge [ Apex ] and pulled Meg's tail clean off. A wonderful local story that Robert Burns turned into a world famous poem.
