Mouse freezes on playback

Postby danna » Thu Aug 04, 2016 2:52 am

Win 10 - I7 - 16gb ram

Just purchased Gold a few days ago and have latest update.

Show with 220 images.
17 audio files ... many, but all short as show is only 24 minutes.

Seems I started having freezes once show was nearly complete.
Put approx. 85% of show together before problems started.

Trying to make some final adjustments and it is nearly impossible,
as once I preview my mouse freezes.

Have to use Alt-F and Alt-X to close Proshow.

Appreciate any help or advice.

I don't really know why this is happening in your case, but you could try the following:

1. To refresh the cache of the show:
Delete the file named "name of your show".pxc" (name of show means however you called your show).
This file is located in the folder where you saved your show.
Just pay attention to delete the file with this extension ".pxc" and not something else.
It's usually the largest file with this name, that you have.

2. Since you are using the latest version, you could try to divide your show in several smaller shows, and to work on them separately.
When you are happy with the results, you can combine all of them again.
In this current version you can combine shows without losing the audio. This wasn't available in previous versions, so you might as well take advantage of this new feature.

Thanks cherub

Will try your suggestions.

#1 should be easy
#2 I'll have to look up in pdf manual, did not know you could do that.

I don't have Gold ver. 8 installed right now, so I can't guide you.
But, in Photodex' descrption of this version (Gold), it is clearly stated that combining shows is there.
So, look for it :D
There is also a help file in the program itself, F1 or click on Help.

OK, now I have it :D
For the benefit of all the users of ProShow Gold, here is how to combine shows in ver. 8 (taken from the help file)

To Combine Shows

In the Menu Bar, select Tools, then choose Combine Shows
In the Combine Shows window, click Add at the bottom of the window, and select the previously created shows you’d like to combine.
Above the Including Shows pane, use the up and down arrows to control the order of your shows.
In the Resulting Show pane, set your show options.
Options include: naming your show, setting the aspect ratio, and having ProShow insert a blank slide in between each of the separate shows.
Click OK.

ProShow will now take each of the shows you selected, and load them into the slide list. The result is a single, brand new show. From here you can make additional changes, or move on to publishing.

Tip #1 As you add shows, keep an eye on the Duration counter. This will give you the total number of slides in your combined show, as well as the total length. Keep in mind that larger shows take more time to process.
Tip #2: Don’t forget to Save the newly created show!
Tip #3: If you plan to publish the show more than once, or in multiple formats, it’s recommended that you use the Collect Show Files tool to bring all of the combined show content together.

Thanks cherub ... appreciate your help.

Do not think my mouse freezing problem is related to Gold.

I've used a Logitech wireless mouse with Win 7 for many years
with zero problems.

Once upgraded to Win 10, I did notice some lags every now and then,
but no complete freeze.

Finally occurred to me, to try my old wired mouse.
Gold did not even have a hiccup ... ran smooth.

Thinking it's my wireless mouse and Win 10 that do not get along.

Thanks

Most of the mouses (mice ?) work without driver. The driver is only necessary for specific buttons. Uninstall the mouse driver and it will probably solve the problem.

I use Logitech wireless mouses on my computers and never install drivers.

Thank you !

Now that the mouse problem is solved, I'll have more questions about some functions, but I'll start another thread.
